Learn how to turn Figma into a professional multi-page publishing powerhouse.
Last updated: October 2026
1. Getting Started
Install the plugin from Figma Community and set up your first publication document.
- 1Open any Figma design file or create a new document.
- 2Search for Prindd in the Figma Plugins panel or menu.
- 3Launch Prindd — the floating publication controller will appear over your canvas.
2. Document Setup & Spreads
Configure facing pages, print margins, column grids, and trim bleeds.
- 1Switch to the 'Document' tab in the Prindd panel.
- 2Enable 'Facing Pages (Spreads)' if you are designing a book, magazine, or catalog with left (verso) and right (recto) pages.
- 3Set your column count and column gutters in millimetres or points.
- 4Specify margins and trim bleed (standard 3 mm for commercial print prepress).
- 5Click 'Update Document' to apply the grid system across all publication frames.
3. Automatic Text Flow
Thread text frames across columns and let Prindd handle pagination automatically.
- 1Select a primary text layer on your first editorial page.
- 2When copy overflows the frame, Prindd's Flow Engine detects overset text.
- 3Click 'Reflow Publication' or enable Auto Page Generation.
- 4Prindd will automatically generate successor pages, instantiate master templates, and thread the text continuously.
4. Master Pages & Overrides
Build reusable templates for headers, folios, and layout grids with inheritance.
- 1Navigate to the 'Pages' tab in the plugin.
- 2Create master templates (e.g. Master A for editorial spreads, Master B for chapter covers).
- 3Assign master layouts to individual spreads.
- 4Override specific master elements locally without severing parent inheritance.
5. Paragraph Styles
Manage global typographic hierarchies across hundreds of pages.
- 1Open the 'Type' tab to manage your publication's typographic scale.
- 2Define styles for Headlines, Subheads, Body Copy, Pull Quotes, and Folios.
- 3Updating a style instantly reflows all connected frames throughout the publication.
6. Professional PDF Export
Prepare and export high-resolution print-ready PDFs with crop marks and bleeds.
- 1Navigate to the 'Export' tab.
- 2Select export mode: Single Pages (for digital/web reading) or Spreads (for commercial printers).
- 3Toggle Printer's Crop Marks and Bleed indicators.
- 4Export high-resolution PDF compliant with professional prepress specifications.
